24 hour vacation.
Yesterday I went down to San Diego to visit Gabrielle, and my folks and their friends Karen and Brad, who were staying at the W for the weekend. It was a nice little getaway, and being with my parents, one filled with nice meals! Mom and Karen and Gabrielle shopped, Dad and Brad played a 2 hour tennis game on clay courts. Then the girls went to a wine bar, had lovely champagne and a cheese plate. Then we met up for dinner in Little Italy, and while waiting for our table we scooted next door for more wine and cheese. Then dinner at Buon Appetito. It was so tasty! Nice conversation and great food. Then, the highlight of the whole trip… Extraordinary Desserts!

After we walked in the imposing front door, we smelled all the teas, the Diptyque candles, looked at the gorgeous Vosges Haut chocolate, and finally chose our dessert.

Then we sat cafeteria style and ate the most decadent chocolate mousse cake and a tangy raspberry sorbet! And just when I was feeling so content, so full of good food and wine and happy as anything, we woke up this morning and had brunch at Cafe Chloe. One brie and fine herb omelette with duck sausage, a mimosa and a strong cup of coffee later, I was in heaven! Nothing like 24 hours of divine food to pick up a bad mood.
