On Wednesday evening Johan and I went over to the Ragers’ house for a little send off Indian dinner for David and Cheri, who are moving to New York. It was nice to see old friends, sad to see them go, but we are happy and hopeful about meeting up with them really soon. Friday night, after seven days of work, we headed to Borders for the unveiling of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. Pretty outrageous, all the nerds waiting around (us included), but we managed to get our copies quickly and get the heck out of there. We started reading as soon as we got home but tired out and went to sleep. Up early on Saturday and I finished the whole thing in the evening. Johan made it about halfway, and finished on Sunday. Since another good friend is moving away, I spent the afternoon with her. Kristiane leaves this afternoon, moving to Oldenburg in Germany with Ralf and Cleo. We had lunch and ran errands, a nice way to spend the day. We even got Cleo a little pair of skinny jeans, which look super cute on a six year old!

Later on I headed to L.A. to meet up with Gwen and Jeremy, in town for a vacation and a couple of shows (respectively). They were in the midst of Thai food when I got there, after which we headed to Urth for coffee, then parted ways with Steve and Mark who had flights back to New York. We went off for a drink at The Cat and Fiddle and had nice chats. I hope Johan and I can visit them in Chicago sometime soon. Thankfully it will be much easier after we move in a few months.
It was a sad week of saying goodbye to good friends, but I had some nice times too. I feel in a bit of a rut, being left behind, and somewhat frustrated that we don’t have the means to get out of here right away. I’m trying to be positive though.
Today will be a nice day off, its cloudy and sprinkly and the horrible heat has disappeared for a little while. A good day to read and relax and plan a nice dinner.
